Friday 26 December 2014

Phew!

Merry Christmas to all my lovely family and friends and a huge happy Boxing Day too!

Yes, it's Boxing Day. The day after the day before and I'm still knackered!

We had Christmas Day at the daughter and son-in-laws house and it was lovely. Also, I was utterly and totally spoilt rotten with lovely prezzies! I ate too much, drank just enough and totally exhausted myself in the process so today I'm NOT getting dressed, going out or cooking!

If anyone turns up at the front door without a present. or a bottle of Martini, then I'm refusing to open it! He who works is still in bed. I can hear the TV on and I haven't even gone up with a coffee for him because I truly can't be bothered! I will eventually though or he might send me a text requesting one! That's the way we roll in this house!

I am missing my craftroom :(

I really want to get in there and get back to normal but, now Christmas has gone, I'm going to have to look ahead to Valentines day and birthdays and get some stash ready for those.
I also want to make more papercraft projects/repurposed/altered art items in 2015. I think some research is in order before I throw myself into it because I often decide to make something and then struggle to put my thoughts in order so as to be able to complete it! I have quite a few unfinished items already and I really don't want to add to them. But, how to organise myself in order to do it? I haven't worked that out yet!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day and perhaps some of you are racing through the sales either in your local towns or online today. I did this morning. I selected loads of goodies on my fave crafty websites, added them to the basket, looked at the total, then............closed the page down and saved even more money because I refuse to buy loads more stash until I've actually used up the stores I have already! Kerching! Money back in my pocket! Tee hee.

So, whatever you're up to today, enjoy it and I will be back, probably in the new year, with more goodies to display (hopefully!).

Oh, I've attached some photos of the cards and calendars and stuff I made for this Christmas. A very small sample which, unfortunately, are the only ones I have saved at the mo! Hope you like them!

Nearly There!

Hello all!
How nice to be back with you all again after being away (again!) for another 2 weeks. Two weeks in which I have been very busy, I might add, trolling away with shopping for presents, wrapping those presents and making more cards than you could shake a stick at!
I still have one or 2 to make but, all in all, Christmas is nearly here and I'm done!
Thankfully I won't have to take the strain on Christmas Day as my darling daughter and her hubby are young enough to be doing that now (!) and apart from roast potatoes, Christmas pudding and a few other lovelies, the day itself will be stress free.
Last year was a very sad Christmas Day as my son-in-laws Grandmother died that morning and how sad it was for him and his family; especially his Mum, Norma. So, this year, Norma isn't up to spending the day with us as she will have some very sad memories to deal with and, I can't blame her as I know how long grieving for a lost parent can take. So. the day will always be tinged with sadness for the rest of us, but we shall make the best of it with a lovely family lunch at their lovely new home (a bigger house than this one!).
As we speak, I was due to celebrate a girls Christmas night out tonight but, sadly, I don't feel up to it at the moment. Yes, health issues can be a blinking nuisance when you've looked forward to something for a while only to find it isn't going to happen just because your body says no!
To make me feel better though, He Who Works has come home for the weekend. He deserves a rest as he works uber hard to keep me in my craftroom ......literally!
So, I'm off now to make some more cards then I shall truly be complete.
If I don't find time to post again before Christmas, may I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Super Happy New Year XXXXXX

Friday Comes Round Again!

Hello all!
Today I have had to come to the realisation that i have had no get up and go for some time now and even writing my blog has been put on the back burner. That crafty spirit I like to call mojo had disappeared and I now find it twice as tricky in thinking up new ways to create cards and papercraft goodies; which, at this time of year, isn't the best time to be struggling to make stuff!
I have made about 15 Xmas cards - 3 of which are earmarked as a special request - which leavers 12. Four i have already despatched so now we are down to 8. Eight images of Xmas loveliness and no extra buddies to put with them!
I have spent the last few days making 4 birthday cards for my BFF in Zante. A friend of hers has requested 4 cards for special upcoming birthdays and it truly has been tricky finding inspiration to make them into gorgeous creations!
So, as you can possibly tell by now, I am not really in the best frame of mind to create or even blog at the moment, yet, I have all the time in the world to commit myself to it but I just end up faffing about! Take last Wednesday for example - I started the day by doing as much housework as possible then cleaning and rearranging my craft room for the 3rd time in as many weeks!
Anyhoo, that's my grumbling over with for now!
Last Tuesday I went to the salon for my traditional Christmas hair cut and colour treatment and then I went out for a meal that evening with old colleagues from my Post Office days and we had a really good night! Tomorrow morning I'm off to a crafty morning at a local church with the sister-in-law. We've been before and we enjoyed it so tomorrow should be fun.
So, there we are for now.
Little bits of other stuff has happened over the last few weeks but nothing of real note to get excited about so it isn't worth rabbiting on about it on here! If I remember anything fun then I'll create a new post - not that anybody's reading these.
Oh well,

Friday 14 November 2014

Hi!

Good evening blogland!
I have just realised it has been a week since I last posted on here and it only seems like yesterday! Is this what happens as you get older? Darn it!
Just got to say this...... Noooooooooooooo! Somebody pass me the remote control - Children In Need is on the TV and chuffin S Club (who, for some unknown reason - they're probably skint - are re-forming) OMG, it's like watching Mick Jagger thinking he's 19 again! This is awful and I cannot find that remote! Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh! BTW, they STILL can't sing!
Anyhoo, less of that rubbish and back to me!
So, this week I have been mostly crafting! Apart from 2 shopping trips (I always forget something and have to go again), a hospital visit and a breakfast meeting with the sister in law (!) I have been busy attempting a few Christmassy projects and, I do have to admit, having some success too!
Once I've decided who is to receive what, I will be able to post them here but until then -----tough! You'll just have to wait for the excitement!
I haven't even started on Christmas cards yet and I still have alot to do before they happen. It looks like this years cards will be of the CAS type - easy and simple. The only problem I'm having is which style to use this year. Anybody any ideas or tips? Post a comment at the end if you do!
He who works came home today after 10 days away on missionary work........translated as 'working over the border in that there Yorkshire'! I might not have as much time to craft this weekend but it might be a welcome break after such a busy week.
So, time to sign off now until next time (which might be next Friday at this rate!)
Hope everyone has a fab weekend.

That Friday Feeling!

Good morning all !
I hope you've had a lovely week and now looking forward to the weekend.
Did anybody go to a bonfire party the other night? The weather was perfect for it because, for once, it didn't rain!
I didn't go to any but I did see loads of fireworks and hear them too! Lots of loud bangs and whistles this year!
Anyhoo, onto todays quick post.

This card I have made for the DT at  Friday Sketch Challenges.
I'm hosting the challenge this week with my sketch being the one to follow so I've made my card very traditionally Christmas!
It looks quite bare but that was the look I was going for! Some colouring in, a little decoupage and then sticking to the sketch and keeping things uber simple.
I have had too much to do lately and decided that CAS was definitely the way to go before my head exploded with worrying about it!

So, that's it for today.
I hope to see you soon - ps, here's the card!

Monday 27 October 2014

Woohoo!

Phew! It has been all of 12 days since my last post and i have had a fab time - in Zakynthos! It was a heck of a bumpy ride moving house and shifting stuff into my craft room but now, all of that is like water under the bridge and it's time to move on and start crafting again!
Yesterday, and some of today (!), I managed to re-sort my craft space so I can actually find things and tonight I'm going in and I may be some time.........tee hee!
I also had a birthday during my time out and I received some lovely crafty stuff which I can't wait to try out.

Look out blogland - I'm back!

Wednesday 15 October 2014

HELLO!!!

Well, good morning everyone!
I have been moving house - enough said - but now I'm raring to get back on my bike and empty the box which has my crafty mojo in!
I have sorely missed my crafty days and wish that I could have a few more before........I go on holiday on Friday!!! Yup! No time to do too much or become involved in any recent challenges as we fly to Zakynthos at 6am Friday so I'll just have to suck it up and wait another week!
I have had a couple of minutes here and there to have a mooch round the internet craft sites and I found something the other day which I am going to try when I come home.
Most crafty people know what ATCs are (Artist Trading Cards for those who don't) but I found a tutorial on Artist Trading Blocks and they look really fun! Apparently you can buy the block making die from Sizzix but I think I'll be creating my own- much cheaper! They all look fab and I have an idea of my own on what to make with them for the Papercrafter of the Year comp in November.
So, this moving house business? Hate it. I have no fingernails left, my skin's dry and my hair....well, let's just say it is being cut and pampered at the salon this very afternoon! Isn't it funny how your appearance comes second to sorting out cupboards and shelves? !!!
Not saying I look like a tramp or anything but I look like a tramp..!
He who works has had to take this week off work as well as next (obviously) because we have jobs to do here but getting under my feet is an understatement! World War 3 almost broke out yesterday just hanging a mirror! So, today, I'm getting out of the way., Hoping to meet my lovely sis in law for late brekkies / early lunch before the hair do. Such decadence.
SO, a fond farewell to all as I look around my half finished craftroom and look to where my mojo is hiding. It's gotta be around here somewhere :)

Brrrrr - Snowlady day!

Good morning all!
hope you're all feeling good and looking forward to the autumnal weather and what the season brings.
I love all the colours in the autumn - watching the trees change colours is amazing!
Mother Nature really is a hard worker!

Anyhow, todays post is about the card I've made for this weeks challenge at Crafty Creations Challenges which is being hosted by the lovely Anna.
We are being sponsored by Robyn's Fetish. Follow the link for loads of digital goodies and lots more besides!
The image I've used is Bella da snowlady - she's lovely and sweet and available here :  Bella da Snowlady.
Our challenge is to use orange in the card somewhere - I think I've achieved it!!!

I have used paper downloaded (free!) from Cardmaking and Papercraft
The image is Sassy Witch from Sassy Studio Designs

Fab Friday!

Hey all!
It's the end of another week which means it's one week closer to my holiday! Yaaaayy!
The weather has been really nice here lately so I'm secretly hoping that when we go to Zante in October then it's a little less nice at home! Just so I can feel justified in following the sun!!!!

Today I have a card which I made for the Design Team over at Friday Sketch Challenges who I've been with for a while now - can't remember exactly how long but a couple of months or so (I think!).

The challenge- #78 - is being hosted by Christine Harnett  (follow the link to her FB page!) who is a very committed member of the design team and actually does all the running around and organising for all of the members! Thanks Christine!

The sponsor this week is Rick St. Dennis, an established artist who lives and works in California. Please do follow this link and have a look at his images on Zibbet.com; they are truly awesome! And, if you have the time and the inclination, here is a link to his biography http://rickstdennis.blogspot.co.uk/p/bio_30.html.

Sadly, I don't have the sketch to follow available at this time!

Now, the card!

The image I used is from his Zibbet store, and it's called Old fashioned outhouse!
I thought I would use an image which would challenge me to make into a card as opposed to using the characters he draws.

Items used : Spectrum Noir markers
                    Mariannes Designs fence die
                    Joy Crafts butterfly dies
Quick Cards Made Easy magazine free paper downloads
From The Heart Stamps digital sentiment.

Put a little birdhouse in your soul....!

Hi everyone!
I have no idea how busy you all are but I am! Again! Idle hands do the Devils' work...or, so I'm told, so it's best to keep as busy as possible!

This fortnights' challenge at Crafty Creations Challenge blogspot is hosted by DT member Macarena and the theme is to follow the sketch.

Our sponsor is Stitchy Bear Stamps who have an online digital store with lots of digital designers who create fabulous digital images! It's definitely worth having a look!

This card is created using the Bird House 1 image by Hope Jacare.

I used Spectrum Noir markers for colouring.
Paper and ribbon from my stash.
The flower came from The Ribbon Girl
The sentiment is from From The Heart Stamps
and the gemstones from Papermania.

Phew!

I am utterly shattered! Oh, hello all!
It's true, I'm pooped! Yesterday I ended up running around (ok, ordering Mark to run around!) emptying cupboards and sorting stuff out from my bedroom and craftroom. Managed to fill the wheelie bins outside with loads of recycling tho so I must be doing well parting with things that I REALLY NEED!!!!
Honestly though, it's hard parting with stuff from way back when but it's necessary too.
So, what did I do? I photographed items that I hated binning so at least I can look at the lovely pics now and again!

I've hardly done any crafting at all lately and today I might just make up for it as I'm in a crafty mood!

The weather is beautiful - yep, the bedding's out on the line!- and I need to do some shopping but cannot be bothered going so I'm going to do it online! Yaaaay for the internet!
That frees up even more crafty hours too!

Oh, before I go, yesterday I managed to finish my cards for my entries into the cardmaker of the year 2014 comp. Go me!!! I know I haven't been crafting for a long time like alot of other people but I do like to have a go and the cards I've submitted are, at least, well made, if not winners. but, you have to be in it to win it so..... fingers crossed for me!

Monday 25 August 2014

Hello!

Good evening everyone!
Bank Holiday Monday has been its' traditional self - wet! Yep, it's raining now but, to be fair, it wasn't too bad today.mNot that it mattered much anyhoo as I didn't go anywhere for it to be a problem!
Ended up with a 'tired' head today as I may have imbibed a little too much alcomahol last night!
Hey ho!

Anyway, onto the post title - hello - which is the theme for my CAS card today!
I love it!
Sometimes a creation just 'pops' more than others I think and this one is deffo a favourite of mine!
It surprises me how I can make something as lovely as this when I'm not even trying very hard. An idea 'pops' into my head and then really good stuff follows! Yaaaaay! Toot-toot (that's me blowing my own trumpet!)

I've only used a few items to keep it CAS (my favourite challenge!)
White cardstock
Grey paper from Dovecraft
Butterfly stamps from Kaisercraft
Stazon Ink for the stamps
hello sentiment from Pink Petticoat
1 small pink gem

I layered the butterflies to give a little depth to the images and added a little sparkly gem to the 3rd one. I've also used little foam pads on the white cardstock and beneath the 'hello' sentiment.
This is being entered into these challenges :

The Outlawz - Sunday CAS 'Hello'
Simply Create Too - #68 monochromatic - grey and white
QKR Stampede - #102 monochrome - grey and white
Glitter n Sparkle - #99 Use Butterflies

Tiddly Inks!

Hi everyone!
It's a beautiful summer/autumnal day here today so, yes, I've got loads of washing out and on the line!!!!
Hahahaha, and the best of it? It isn't even mine! My daughters machine has died so her hubby brought me 2 loads yesterday as he knows just how much I love it!
Tee hee :)

Anyhoo, today has been a little disappointing as we had planned on doing a car boot sale this morning because for the first time in aaaaages, we (me, Kristin and Dale) were all free this morning and we were to borrow Micks van but, as these things happen, he won't be home until later on today. It was disappointing enough yesterday as he ought to have been coming home then but.....hey ho, that's the way things always go around here!

So, I decided to do the washing, clean the bathroom and the loo room too! And now I'm catching up with a little blog about my Sunday morning and about this lovely card I've made for a couple of challenges this week.

I have used a stamp and an embossing folder from Tiddlyinks. I got these free with my latest issue of Quick Cards Made Easy.

Items used :

Kraft cardstock
LOTV Krafty Christmas paper pad
Core'dinations coloured cardstock
Martha Stewart border punch
Sizzix snowflake dies
Ranger Aged Mahogany Distress Stickles
DecoArt Glamour Dust
Spectrum Noir Markers

The challenges I'm entering are

So, now I'm feeling really Christmassy so I think it would be a good idea to plan my Christmas cards for this year....or I could just go and make some breakfast! Tee hee xxxx

Dig Deep!

Hello all!
How are we all today? Hope you're all feeling crafty with loads of mojo to spread around!
I've been very busy making fab creations for the various DTs I'm on and this card is for this fortnights' challenge at Crafty Creations Challenge blogspot.
The challenge is hosted by DT member Marlene and sponsored by Craft Classes Online who offer a whole range of online crafting classes throughout the year.

The theme of Hazels' challenge is to 'Dig Deep - Use old Stash'!

So, after I'd chosen this really cute bunny image, I had a mooch around and found a piece of ribbon which I cut from a dress over a year ago and a little flower which had been squashed into the bottom corner of my flower box!

I used LOTV papers and a Somebunny to Love stamp to create the card.

Have a go at the challenge! You might just surprise yourself  :)

Things can only get better!!!

Good afternoon blogland!
Here at 'Crafty Towers' life continues to mooch along at a leisurely pace. Washing, ironing, cooking and cleaning.........my son's work is never done!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahahaha, only joking - If he could get out of bed before noon now and again it might be easier for me to remember what he looks like :)
He who works should be home later after working in the Midlands this week and I really hope he's hungry because not only is it Friday, it's also CHIPPY TEA!!!!
Nothing wrong with a chippy tea once in a while and I'm looking forward to it!

Anyhoo, here I am blathering on when really I thought I'd quickly write a post and give you all my good news (hence the posts' title)! I am to be published in QCME magazine in October (with accompanying photo- oh dear :(.... (! ) and I am also to be contracted to show something in the Christmas issue (secret cannot be unveiled I'm afraid -----muahahaha!).
Isn't that just fab? !!!
Gotta be honest, I love what I do and I love being recognised for it too. Everyone needs a 'slap on the back' and a 'well done' now and again and I'm no different. When it comes to crafty stuff, I am very self critical so it means even more when my creations are thought of as good.

So, I can't put a pic of my creation for the Christmas issue on here until after Christmas, but, if you buy issue 132 of Quick Cards Made Easy (!) you'll find my mush looking back at ya probably on one of the farthest from the front pages!!!

What I do have is this bright card which I'm entering into the challenges at :
Cardmaking and Papercraft - Summer brights
Penny's Paper Crafty Challenges #190
Fan-Tastic Tuesday #48
PINspirational Challenges #120 - You CAN be Queen for the Day if you want!

Cute!

Good morning all.
This morning the new challenge at ScrapbookerPhd goes live and here's my entry for the Design Team.
The challenge, #14, is to use 3 dies and some sparkle. Easy peasy!!!
I chose this uber cute LOTV stamp image and sentiment and coloured it with Spectrum Noir pens.
I die cut the image and added little gold brads.
The backing paper is from First Edition - Blank Canvas - as is the die cut lattice band across the centre.
I also die cut the butterfly and the sentiment backing from more gorgeous paper from the Blank Canvas pad.
Flowers, pearl, ribbon and glamour dust finished it all off!

I hope you're having a nice morning. Upto now I've lost (and re-ordered) my bus pass, re-arranged 2 healthcare appointments, done a little housework and made this card!
Well, I did get up at 6.30am as 'he who works' came home late last night but had to leave again this morning; so, it was only fair I got up and made him a coffee!
Anyway, onto this card.

Happy Monday

Hi all!
Well, back to Monday. It soon comes round doesn't it? Seems like only 7 days since it was Monday last week.......lol!
Have you done that "This time last week......" thing?
I'm doing it now - this time last week I was feeling horrendously knackered after travelling all night!!!
Thankfully, all that's behind me now and I'm hoping to have another holiday before the end of the year so I shall have to send whispers in 'his' direction!!! Tee hee!
Yesterday I found a fab challenge on The Ribbon Girl Blog for anything but a square card.
As I'd received my LOTV goodies the day before I decided to have a go and make a pop up box card (I've made them before but it's been a few months).
In the middle of July I won a challenge which gave me a £10 voucher towards goodies from The Ribbon Girl Online Shop and the items I chose are beautiful! Also, they didn't take long to arrive and I've already used some of  them in some goodies I made!
It's really worthwhile having a look at their online store because it isn't just about ribbon and there's lots to choose from to top up your stash with!

So, onto the creation for the challenge.
Items used : LOTV nitwit collections Bonnets & Bowties paper pad.
LOTV Love Grows Rubber Stamp and sentiment
                   Forever in Time lilac ribbon

Ironing marathon!

Hello everyone.
I have excelled myself already today by deciding to iron just one blouse of mine and ending up ironing EVERYTHING in my drawer and wardrobe! Not only that, I have ironed the other halfs stuff too! ALL OF HIS CLOTHES! (Which, compared to mine, isn't so many! LOL)
That little lot took me 5 1/2 hours and I now find myself in my craftroom sorting my post out which came earlier. You may have noticed but, yesterday, I posted how I'd won a draw on LOTVs FB page? Well, the gorgeous stamp came this morning and, earlier in the week, I'd bought 2 more LOTV stamps online and they've come too so here's the photo of my goodies!

I am so tempted to start making stuff RIGHT NOW with these fab stamps but, and it is a big but, (hahahaha) I have other projects to get down to so they'll have to wait a little longer!

I hope you're all having a lovely saturday(10 weeks and 5 days til Christmas.....) and planning a lazy sunday too.
I've been abandoned by my other half as he'll be away til next week so I have to entertain myself for a few more days yet - which really isn't hard to do as I LOVE my craft room!!!!

I almost forgot!
I made this card for the challenge at From The Heart Stamps!
Each month, provided you use their 'monthly' free image the previous month, they email the next months' image to be used in the new challenge! Phew! And this month it's Hamlet Pigwit and pumpkins! He is ever so cute and, as always, I give a huge shout out to the FTHS team for their wonderful images - deffo one of my fave digi sites!

I decided to use Kraft card to give this the 'earthy' feel.
Orange spotty paper from echo park paper co.
I used an embossing folder (free gift from a recent craft-mag) for the border, which I then fussy-cut.
Some paper flowers, button, twine and ribbon brought it alltogether!

WIN WIN WIN WIN!!!

Happy Friday everyone!
Today, nobody could be more happier than me! I entered a competition on the Lili of The Valley Facebook page and from what I can tell there must have been almost 500 entries and yes-------I won one of the 3 prizes available!!!
Waaaaheyyyyy! As you all know my favourite stamping product is LOTV so I just had to enter and now I am over the chuffin moon!
Follow this link to the new set which will be winging their way to me!!!
I can not wait for them to arrive! My Christmas cards are going to be so special this year.

Speaking of Christmas cards, I haven't started mine yet so winning the new stamps is very timely. I do know alot of crafters have already begun theirs so It's a good job I'm always on the last minute.

Today, it is raining...alot.
I haven't seen so much rain for about 3 weeks.....hahahaha x

Wouldn't mind being lazy round the fab pool at the fab villa I was at this time last week in Kefalonia.
Oh well, I guess we'll just have to start planning another hol for September (my other half wants to go in October but I prefer that little extra heat in Zakynthos during the day).

Now, my second news for today is my uber favourite mag  (I subscribe because it's brill!) are looking for guest DT members for each monthly issue and do you know what? I think I'll have a bash at it!!!

This is the Facebook call out :-
Do you want to be part of the Quick Cards DT? We're looking for three talented crafters each month to make a fabulous card using our bonus papers. You'll receive the papers before the magazine goes on sale and your card design will feature in the issue to inspire other Quick Cards readers.

If you'd like to be considered, email photos showing three examples of your cards to catherine.dean@immediate.co.uk - we can't wait to hear from you!

Here are 3 of my favourite cards : -

TTFN and wish me luck!
